Title-deciding weekend ahead

Rounds 19 & 20, Thruxton, 13th & 14th October 2007

Duncan will make his bid to bcome the 2007 Formula Renault UK Champion this weekend at Thruxton, the title that Lewis Hamilton claimed in 2003. He has won eight of the eighteen races to date, including the last six, so he is definitely on form.

The main challenge Duncan faces is from team-mate Dean Smith, who is just seven points behind. Duncan can be crowned champion after the first of the two races by winning and setting the fastest lap; otherwise it’s a straight battle on points over the two races.

Duncan said: “I’m excited. The whole year has been building up to this. We knew more or less from the first event that it would come down to the last event and hopefully it’s going to be in my favour.

“I’m looking forward to qualifying on Saturday and to getting on with it. I’m aiming for the race one win and fastest lap – there’s no reason why I can’t achieve that. To be in the top three of this prestigious championship is a real achievement and to win would be amazing.”
