Pit-stop issue mars second race

World Series Formula Renault 3.5 – Hungaroring, Hungary

Race 2: Qualified 11th, Finished 19th, Rookie 5th

Today’s race didn’t go the same way of Duncan Tappy’s points-scoring sprint race yesterday. It was the pit-stop in today’s race that was to be the downfall.

By stopping short of the pit-stop position, the mechanics struggled and valuable time was cost dropping Duncan to the back of the field. He continued, increasing his pace, and crossed the line in 19th. It was a disappointing end to a weekend but nothing can take away the high of the five points that he won in only his second event.

Duncan said: “There was a communication problem and I didn’t know where to stop. It was a great shame because I’d been having a good race. I lost a few places at the start but made them back by going round the outside and out-braking again at turn two.

“I’m still so happy about yesterday’s race though and with the way it’s working with RC. The team has been fantastic and it’s a shame we have to wait seven weeks for our next race.”
