Duncan makes Formula Master appearance at Pau

Race 1: Qualified 15th, Finished 9th
Race 2: Grid position 9th, Finished 10th

Duncan Tappy added yet another race series to his repertoire this weekend by appearing with Team JVA in the Formula Master Series. The two litre single seater formula supported the Pau World Touring Car Championship races on the French street circuit this weekend.

Qualifying didn’t go according to plan when Duncan’s radio didn’t work and the strategy went awry. Starting race one from 15th wasn’t ideal but undeterred Duncan made his characteristic progress working his way through the field to ninth on the tight circuit with limited overtaking opportunity and no room for error on the narrow track. Finishing ninth was one away from a valuable reverse grid position so Duncan was set for another battle.

After a good start to race two when he gained a place from the line Duncan proceeded to gain positions until he was lying fifth and was with the leading pack. Changes made to set-up following race one had improved the handling of the car but was having an adverse effect on the front tyres and from the mid-point of the race Duncan struggled with loss of grip and consequently lost positions crossing the line in tenth.

Duncan said: “I started on the back foot here but think I raced well. I enjoyed the car. Pau’s a strange, bumpy circuit that I’ve not been to before and I’d love to have the opportunity to race the car on a conventional race track. John Village and the JVA team were great and I felt at home straight away so I’d like to thank them for their hard work this weekend.”
